Was it BJP’s over confidence or its lack luster performance which has cost them the By-poll elections?

September 18, 2014 by

BJP fought 2014 General election, on the issues of Development, Growth, Bad governance of UPA and on “Achhe Din”. By-polls results showed that Modi wave is diminishing; yes Modi hasn’t campaigned in these by-poll elections held in 4 states, but it is awake up call for BJP to set things straight before the big battle of Maharashtra and Harayana next month. Uttar Pradesh result of by-poll election showed that, BJP who won 62 seats in loksabha elections, just manage to gain 3 seats out of 11 seats.

BJP should realize that this by-poll election was not fought on the issues on which they managed corner out other parties. Here, BJP tried to bring in their ideology of Hindutva to win this election, by making Yogi Adityanath as their campaign Head, and recent comments by Yogi Adityanath and Maneka Gandhi, showed people has not accepted his dirty politics, and also so called “Love Jihad”. This tactic of BJP evidently failed in this by-poll election.

I agree by- election is not the election to judge, but this by-election can show a mirror to political parties that, what to improve? And what to retain? I think BJP should retain their agenda of Development, Growth and Achhe Din instead of going back to their ideologue of “Hindutva”, and immediately remove Yogi Adityanath as their Uttar Pradesh election Head. Modi and BJP should stop these fringe elements not to jeopardize their government. If we review at 100 days of Modi Government, there are many juncture where Modi Government has passed. But, on the other side, Modi Government has failed on many important issues, where people expected change after they voted NDA to power. The important issues like Inflation, Corruption, Border security, end to communalism, and women safety have been left attended. Government would say that they have tackled these issues better than UPA, but by-poll results showed that somewhere down the line Modi government didn’t fulfill the expectation of a common man.

Common man voted Modi to power, because they expected Modi is a person whom can help common man to get rid of inflation. Hundred days is not enough to judge a government, but this government also not showed the glimpse of “Achhe Din”?

Corruption, Scams which was the core issue in the previous election, Modi fought election on these issues as well, but not end to it.

India needs change, and people expect that change from Narendra Modi government. But, in more than hundred days of Modi government, I didn’t see any change. This Government is similar to last Government of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. The only change I saw that in last hundred Prime Minister has visited four to five countries, which other Prime Minister hadn’t visited so much Countries in such a short time. Women Safety and fragile relation with Pakistan still the same.

Modi Government and army should be applauded for the work they have done for rescuing hundreds of thousands of people from Kashmir floods.

BJP has to introspect the loss of these by-poll elections, because the major elections are of Maharashtra and Haryana is just one month away. BJP should not get carried away from the big 2014 General elections, and also should not ignore the by-poll elections.
