The Lost Maa In The Modern Era Of Mother’s Day

The Lost Maa In The Modern Era Of Mother’s Day

May 8, 2016 by

If love is as sweet as a flower,
then mother is that sweet flower of love.

I do not wish each mother today a very Happy Mother’s Day, but I wish each of them a very happy life on this Mother’s Day. There may have been great kings, great rulers and great human beings, but the greatest of all is a mother. These are no sugary words knitted to adorn the occasion but these are my reflections on the grandeur of a mother’s selfless and boundless love. Their benevolence, selflessness and care cannot just be measured. They truly are incarnations of God on this planet, nurturing it with their blood and care and in them lies the roots of our evolution not just as  homo sapiens but as ‘human beings’ that she has made us.

It is a mother who foster feelings and compassion in our corporeal frame which otherwise is just a piece of flesh. Great is her investment in her children for which she expect no returns but I am dismayed to say that we indeed give her no premium, no bonus and no cover. She raises us with her blood and sweat and we do not even extend our hands when she falls!

I wonder how come we humans become so bereaved of humanity that we do not acknowledge our parents for their immense love for us! In our childhood we get all our desires fulfilled at any cost, may our parents have to do double shifts for the same but when we are ready to step into their shoes and they grow old, we do not even spend a single penny on them?

Are all the responsibilities to be fulfilled only by a mother and a father? Do children have no responsibilities towards them?

There may be some who understand the importance of their parents and believe me they are the most blessed souls but what about those who turn their back to their parents when they need an anchor?

I am shattered to have seen a real life incident where in a very prosperous child gives her mother a trifle amount every month with an agreement to revive each penny (with interest) after her demise by selling her little house. Believe me, this is a true case and the money being given to the mother is not even enough to make her ends meet. Can you believe that I, you and children can be so?

And if we are so, then is it the failure of a mother’s upbringing or of that child whose hands and voice does not even tremble while making such an agreement?

It is but the biggest loss of that heartless child who does not know that he is making a transaction with his God.

My conscience has been numbed by having witnessed such an incident and I feel most of us just celebrate this day with a hollow display of feelings for our mothers.

We are simply carrying a facade!

What is the use to celebrate this day when we can give her only pain on all the other days?

So I feel-

Finally the day has arrived
When we all suddenly realize
To acknowledge the love of our mothers
And wish them pompously like all others.

 Strange our the worldly ways,
We have devised a single day
To celebrate the source of our very being,
To rejoice the happiness of the bird with no wing.

So, a mother is- A bird with no wing
She is chained by her own kids,
She wishes to fly taking the world ahead
But does she earn adequate respect?

I have no words to adore these mighty
And miraculous creations of Almighty,
Who despite being tormented deep till their souls
Keep radiating love for all.

They defend us from harsh winds
They quench their thirst by nurturing us,
Great is the gift we return
By torturing them for their selfless love.

Is this the trait of human race
Who always maligns the almighty’s grace?
D
on’t the hands tremble upon
Thrashing their own creator’s face?

Shame on humans who commercialize
This pious bond of a mother and child,
How can we deny to extend help to those hands
Holding whom we have walked all the while ?!

This mother’s day if you truly love your mother and if you truly acknowledge the magic of her soul, then you may not have big celebrations in her name but make a solemn promise within your heart to –

Truly Submit to your mother
For her being the apostle of love and sacrifice,
Be her anchor and abide by her side
And witness on earth, the ultimate paradise.

Because after all-

GOD COULD NOT BE EVERYWHERE AND THEREFORE HE MADE MOTHERS!
