Recently, it has been found that not a single woman in India knows about their legitimate rights which were launched by the Indian Government in the year 2011. The scheme was named as Janani Shishu Suraksha Karyakram and the plan was propelled by the Government with the expectation of benefiting or profiting 12 million pregnant ladies in India.

Earlier, the Government of India, as well as the Indian health associations, has been disparaged for not being able to lessen the number of maternal deaths, regardless of the extensive growth and development in the Indian economy.

Here are the 7 rights which every ‘Mamas-to-be’ in India should know about-

  • Pregnant ladies can avail free meals and transport services

 What can be far better than getting the free transport facilities which are accessible for the pregnant ladies, for going to the hospital and back, alongside getting meals for the entire duration while she is in the hospital.

  • Maternity benefits extended till the child turns 1 year

 Now, there are arrangements and provisions for the pregnant ladies to extend every one of the advantages till their infant is one year old. Not only this, but the sick newborn children are entitled to getting free medical treatment, free diagnostics, free meds, and transport facilities from home to hospitals, and additionally a free drop back to home.

  • Qualified for getting cash payments on consistent checkup

 In some of the regions, pregnant ladies are entitled to get Rs. 7,000 in real cash payment on the customary antenatal checkup, institutional baby delivery, and on inoculation or vaccination of children. It is also coming to the light that the Government is soon planning to reveal the scheme across the nation all over.

  • The Government has consented to augment maternity leave

  • Pregnant ladies cannot get fired for being pregnant

Under the Maternity Benefit Act, it is already illegal to fire any woman from her job because of her pregnancy. To plug any loophole and also to guarantee security and protection to the women employees, the Government is soon going to execute a provision, which will disallow the sacking of any woman amid pregnancy, on any guise.

Therefore, in spite of such misconceptions, India has got some fine laws, rules, and guidelines, and also some plans for the protection and welfare of pregnant ladies. Surprisingly, most the women are not aware of the plan, which issues enhanced privileges’ for the pregnant ladies.
