Dhanbad: Constitution got raped! Assam: Culture got raped! And Delhi: Where people got raped!

March 14, 2015 by

It was 16th December 1971, when we won the battle over Pakistan and created Bangladesh, and it was 16th December 2012, when lust won over a girl.

I wonder how Indian Army will celebrate the “VIJAY DIWAS” in upcoming years.

Six people badly raped a paramedic student and threw her on the roadside. That was total inhumanity. No one in public came forward to hospitalize her, nor did anyone tried to. It was the Police who did all the formalities after an era passed.

Safdarjung was the hospital she was admitted in, the same day. She went in coma for five times within three days after being assaulted and was shifted to Mount Elizabeth Hospital’s intensive care unit in Singapore on 27th morning but unfortunately she passed away on 29th  December.

On rewinding our memories,

It was July 9, 2012. When a girl was molested publicly and was video graphed in Guwahati, Assam. Sixteen out of twenty two accused were arrested within a month and only eleven were found guilty by the court. The court imprisoned the offenders for two years on December 7.

I wonder how many years the girl would take to recover. Crimes such as rape not only cause physical harm, but also cause mental disorder. Two years of imprisonment over such bunkum deed is really hard to believe, and hard to compensate over a victim’s life.

Imprisonment for decades also cannot remunerate, but it can warn the upcoming criminal to think before acting.

Further rewinding our tape,

April 22, 2003, the day that completely changed the life of an eighteen year old, Sonali Mujharjee, the victim of acid attack in Dhanbad, Jharkhand. She was a student of sociology honors and was part of National Cadet Corps. The acid was sprayed by her jilted lover and two of his accomplices. The acid was too strong that she was 65% burnt. It made her completely blind and partially deaf.

The perpetrators were sentenced to nine years of jail, but were granted bail when they appealed to the High Court. It was the time when our constitution was publicly raped. The accused are roaming scot-free.

Doctors guaranteed to restore her looks. The various doctors, including ophthalmologists, ENT specialists, plastic surgeons and skin specialists quoted three and a half million bucks for the treatment.   It was impossible to gather such a huge amount for Hand-to-Mouth conditioned family. Many NGOs and private firm gathered money for her treatment but could not cure her mental antagonism. She was also invited to KBC’s sixth version to play along with Lara Dutta Bhupathi and won two and a half million there. All this money she got was nine years after she actually got victimized.

These three cases got comparatively more media coverage, but you guys will be ashamed to know that these kind of misdemeanor happens every 20 minutes and aggravation in every 25 minutes in our country. A study says that only 20% of criminals are punished who are involved in such antisocial activities.

Well, it’s not only the police, the judiciary or the constitution who is to be blamed for such incidences, we, the public also has some sort of credit in it.

One of our ministers said, “In order to feel safe, the women should learn martial art and carry pepper spray.”

I feel pity on impotency of such people, who are responsible for safety and security of women, speaks such noisome. If it was easy to carry pepper spray, I would ask, why huge amount is spend on their security, its better they and their family members carry it.

Someone said, “Dressing sense of girls is responsible for the present scenario of somatic crime.” Well, it’s better to strengthen our security rather than questioning someone’s independence.

What can be more shameful for us is the so-called well cultured Indians, where the girls are neither secured in a mother’s womb nor outside it?

It’s a gnome in Sanskrit that “यत्र नार्यस्तु पूजयन्ते, रमन्ते तत्र देवता”

“God resides there, where women are worshiped”. These are true and deep words.

The present scenario of women in male dominating society is a matter to be debated, and a matter to be shamed. There are many people to sermon us, but there is no one to guide us.

They suffer from Female feticide to dowry harassment,

From external persecution to domestic violence,

From eve teasing to stalking,

From rude comments to abuse.

But yes, then also, they serve us in the form of our grandmother, mother, sister, friend, wife and many more.

Keep an eye on surrounding because whatever happened, can happen with our dear ones as well.

Respect their patience, their feelings and their emotions.

The more you respect the more you gain.
