“Maa, I have raped Rina aunty’s daughter.”
“What? You’ll be punished for this!”
“3years? I am a juvenile, I can do anything. Haha! Provided, she was asking for it.”
*slaps*
“But you’re 17 year 3 months. They won’t leave you!”
“We have a dumb system here. Chill. Did you forgive me?”
“Apne balak se kaisi narazgi? Maa toh maa hi hoti hai!”
Okay, so, a guy can be extremely desperate for sex and rapes a girl, but cannot be hanged because he’s a juvenile! Wow? Maybe? Provided he states that, she was asking for *it*. Dear rapists, had she been asking for *it*, you would have not been in the juvenile home for 3 years or hanged.
On 26th December, 2015, he-who-must-not-be-named culprit of Nirbhaya will be set free in spite of being savagely violent to the girl. He suggested putting a rod inside her and killing her. How can someone be so monstrous at such a tender age? He assaulted her twice and did all sort of things he could do before throwing her off the bus.
Wait, he can do anything since he’s a juvenile.
His mother got to know about the releasing of her son from the newspapers and television. She says, Delhiites won’t let him live. He should get back home as soon as he is set free.
When asked if he had forgiven him, she says, “Apne baalak se kaisi narazgi? Maa toh maa hoti hai.” (ARE YOU KIDDING ME?) His sisters say, we’ll pray for him and try to live like we did before, but we won’t forgive him.
There’s a huge difference between mother and sisters here. Being a women herself she doesn’t understand the agony (both physically and mentally) the 23 year old girl had gone through. Had she understood, she would have never said, mothers are mothers, they forgive their son no matter what! She should have stood with the people who were protesting and asking them to hang him. Mothers aren’t for forgiving ONLY, they’re for showing their sons the right track, and punish them correctly! I wonder if she would have said the same if she were the girl’s mother.
Supreme Court said this case to be *rarest of all the rare cases*, then they could have taken action accordingly. They could have done *the rarest thing* ever. They could have at least kept him in jail for three years rather than keeping him in juvenile home. What does court want? To set him free and see if he does something more heinous?
Yes! I understand that we shouldn’t get confused between justice and law.
Law says –
- He was 17 years and 3 months so he was juvenile. Okay.
- As he was juvenile, he was kept in a juvenile home. Okay.
- Since he was in juvenile home, he couldn’t be kept for more than 3 years. Okay.
- He’s done with 3 years and it is time for his returning back. Okay.
Justice says –
- He raped a girl. Brutally. He should be hanged. OKAY!!
- He put the rod inside her liver. He murdered her. He should be hanged. OKAY!!
- He set an example that just being 9 months younger to 18 can save any *criminal*. He manipulated court. He should be hanged. OKAY!!
- Setting a monster free in the world and see if he eats another one. He should be hanged. OKAY!!
Dear people, I am in no dilemma. Justice is louder. In the war between law and justice, maybe law won. But, laws are meant to give justice right? Did Nirbhaya get full justice?
NO! The main villain of the incident is out. Then, how is law meant to give justice? Rules are meant to follow only if they deliver out something, not because we follow because they *should be*
16th December, 2012. You remember, right? Candle marches, protests, gloomy atmosphere, togetherness, uncontrollable anger for the convicts, passion to change the world, oath taken to let the history not repeat, you bear everything in mind, don’t you? We do! This incident shook up every person so much so that everybody had celebrated a dark Christmas.
Did anything change? Anything?
Hundreds of rapes took place in 3 years. I don’t know what is lacking in the system. I don’t know why are rapes taking place so much. I don’t know why juveniles are getting so desperate and aggressive at such a tender age. I don’t know what’s wrong. Do you know?
