JNU Isn’t The Culprit, Someone Else Is. But Our Media Is Too Busy To Cover The Reality!

India with a population of 1,326,801,576 has currently the largest population of illiterate adults in the world with 287 million individuals, which covers the 37% of the global total. With this huge population of illiterate individuals, our responsibility towards them is to depict a picture of any incident in a manner so that they can understand the correct situation.

The youth, being the future of India, have a responsibility to guide them instead of misguiding them. Now, the question is how we can serve our responsibility towards them. The answer is very simple as that most part of our country is getting any news, any information through media. So, the media has a responsibility to provide them the correct information. They should not be influenced by any Political Parties or any regional community; they should stand alone and provide the correct picture of any scenario.

But what our  media is currently serving, a picture of the event in a biased format, which shows that how deeply is it connected with any political party and how it can only show a picture which our leaders want to reach to the common man.

For example, we can see that how the JNU event was presented in front of our society. JNU students organized a cultural event on Parliament attack convict, Afzal Guru who was hanged in year 2013. This was to be done a day after his death anniversary. Somehow they got to know that the process mentioned in constitution was not followed in his case. So, they wanted to question the working of Supreme Court and they wanted to find some unknown facts about the political parties.

But somehow the cultural event turned out into a group of people sloganeering against India. We all have seen the sloganeering on TVs and have read on newspapers. There was definitely someone behind this who was trying to fish in troubled waters in India.

Whosoever is behind this must be punished as per the law. The police should find the convict should get the strict punishment for this. The media should help the police, the society in finding the reason behind this and the actual culprit of this act.

Please stop treating the JNU students as anti-national elements and terrorists. We all know that JNU is one of the progressive and democratic institutions of India. It has given our society a huge number of researchers, social workers who has always helped the society in getting reformed and lend a hand in the development of society.

We strongly urge that the university should be restored towards normalcy and we request to provide the space in the university where the youth is permitted to question the working of laws, where they are free to put their opinions up and where the counter narratives are respected and dialogue is nurtured and future leaders are born. We should all know the fact that dissent always helps in getting a nation stronger and united.
